Tasmanian WAG Gymnasts shine at Bigham Cup

Some of Tasmania’s up and coming Level 6 and 7 WAG gymnasts made the trip to Darwin last weekend to compete in the inaugural Bigham Cup, which brought gymnasts from five Australian states and territories together for their first taste of inter-state competition.

A strong weekend of Gymnastics saw Tasmania finish with the Bronze Medal overall in both the Level 6 and Level 7 Team Competitions, just behind the ACT and South Australia.

Making her mark at the competition was Level 6 gymnast Kiera Harding from Kingborough Gymsports (pictured above), who walked away with the title of Individual All-Around Champion following a day of strong competition.

Finishing on the podium in all four apparatus, including a Gold on Uneven Bars, Silver on Vault and Balance Beam and a Bronze on Floor cemented the title for Kiera. Teammate, Shayaa Letheef, also from Kingborough, also performed impressively, finishing in 5th place on 36.500.

In Level 7, Ambilly Miley from Clarence Gymsports finished with a Silver Medal, with a score of 12.550 on Balance Beam. Ambilly was the highest All-Around finisher for the state, finishing 6th with a score of 46.682.

All our Tasmanian gymnasts should be incredibly proud of their efforts this weekend, and we thank our staff, along with Gymnastics Northern Territory, for making it all possible.
