At the recent IGA/The Advocate Junior Sports Awards, Leanne Lillico was awarded the Service to Sport Award.
A well deserved award, Leanne has 20 year's involvement in Gymnastics and her involvement in the sport not only reaches the Devonport community but extends far beyond to a state level. Apart from being the Administration Manager and Head Coach at the Devonport Gymnastics Centre, Leanne also sits on the GTAS WAG Gymsport Committee. having an impact on shaping gymnastics in the coming years.
Her coaching role has also extended to Head Coach and Team Manager for the GTAS Trans Bass Challenge, and in 2016, WAG Assistant Coach and Assistant Team Manager for the GTAS WAG team that attended the Australian National Championships in May at Hisense Arena, Melbourne.
The awards were presented at a ceremony on Wednesday 23rd November. Leanne was full of praise for the awards structure, stating that she had seen many of her own gymnasts win awards over the year. Of her own award, Leanne stated 'It is overwhelming to get this honour. You don't do it to be recognised, but it is really nice to be recognised. I do it for the kids and to watch them achieve both the big skills and the little skills of the sport.'
